Puerto Princesa Beaches
Puerto Princesa’s status as one of the world’s leading eco tourist destinations is not just due to its marine sanctuaries but also because of its fabulous beaches. The following are just some of the best that you will find in and around this beautiful city.
Honda Bay
Whether you are in Puerto Princesa or anywhere else in Palawan, you have to visit Honday Bay if beautiful beaches are what you’re after.
There are several reasons why Honda Bay stands out from the rest. One of them is that the bay offers plenty of choices. There is not one, or two white sand beaches; there are dozens. There are also sites for diving and scuba diving.
Of the numerous islands in Honda Bay, two of the most frequently visited are Snake Island, with its white sands, and Bat Island, renowned for its cave, populated by exotic bats. The best time to watch the mammals in flight is in the late afternoon.
Nagtabon Beach
Not far from Puerto Princesa is Bacungan, where Nagtabon Beach, one of the best in Palawan, is located.
The beach goes on for some 800 meters (3,000 ft) and over 15 meters (50 ft) in width. Not only is it ideal for taking a stroll; the weather makes it ideal for lazing under the sun. There are also some beach resorts in the area, ready to provide you with everything that you may need.
Napsan Beach
An hour or so away from Puerto Princesa is the small barangay called Napsan where this beach is situated.
While it has its share of beautiful white sand and crystalline waters, its setting is the other attraction for tourists, as it is enveloped by rocky elevations that jut out of the sea, providing a spectacular view of the seas and skies.
The Calamian Group of Islands
The Calamian Islands are on the northeastern part of the island, and are among the most popular of all the tourist destinations on the province.
There are several small islets here, but the most well known are Coron, Cullon and Busuanga. Not only do these islands posses extraordinary beaches, but a dive beneath the waters will reveal stunning corals, because the islands actually nest on top of these reefs.
If you visit Busuanga do not forget to drop by Calauit as it hoss the Philippines’ best collection of exotic African wildlife as well as other rare and exotic species.
Apulit Island
Two hours away from Puerto Princesa is Taytay, which used to be the capitol. From the bay here you can visit several islands, each with something unique to offer.
Apulit Island is one of the more favored destinations; aside from the numerous dive sites, there are also several resorts that will cater to all your needs. Of course, the island also possesses a beautiful beach.
Bacuit Bay
Anyone in Puerto Princesa should make it a point to visit the Bacuit Bay, from which you can traverse and go island hopping.
Here you will find the famous El Nido marine sanctuary, and while it is primarily known for being a divers’ paradise, its shores also hold some of the province’s most beautiful beaches.
Salakot Waterfalls
Just a little farther away from Napsan are the Salakot Waterfalls, sight of some of the most spectacular falls in the Philippines.
While the waterfalls grab the most attention here, the waters themselves come down to form a pool that rivals any of the beaches in Puerto Princesa. While enjoying the sounds of the rushing waters you can also take delight in the presence of some of the loveliest and rarest butterflies anywhere in the world.
